Verona - Dorothy Regina Hageman, age 96, died peacefully in her sleep on July 14, 2012, at Four Winds Manor Nursing and Rehab Facility. She was born in Wright County, Silver Creek Township, Monticello, MN on December 29, 1915, to Frank and Sophy (Swanson) Neutz. On May 24, 1941, she married Walter Kuehni. Walter died of cancer. On October 13, 1951, she married Frank Hageman. Dorothy lovingly raised Frank’s sons, Clifford and John. Frank and Dorothy had a son, Douglas, in 1956. Dorothy worked in food service in the Madison and Verona School Systems, as well as at Four Winds Manor. Dorothy was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Verona. She was a great gardener. She always had fresh produce to share with friends and family. Dorothy was an avid card player. She loved her bowling leagues, and also enjoyed playing Bingo.
Dorothy is survived by her step-sons Clifford (Carla) and John (Helen); Doug’s former wife Mona, and grandchildren: Clayton (Angie), Ann (Eric) Nelson, Daryl, Kay (Duane) Bongard, Deb (Dale) Chestnut, Connie, Theresa (Steve) Droster, Lisa (Devin) Dahlk, Kevin (Cora), Susan, Emily (Brian) Shunk, Molly, Jon (Tamara), and Benjamin; along with 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, son Doug, and siblings: Stanley, Maurice, Francis, Irvin, Lawrence, Melvin, Arnold, Marjorie Gustafson, Katherin Drager, Virginia (Babe) Hustad.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 South Main Street, Verona, with Rev. Kurt Billings officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
