James Fuller“Jim” Taff, age 83, died after a tough battle with cancer on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on August 3, 1928 in Madison, the son of A.J. and Myrtle (Menn) Taff.He graduated from Madison East High School in 1946.Following graduation he entered the United States Army and served in the 8thArmy Transportation Corps during WWII.

He was united in marriage to Laura Stauffacher on July 8, 1951 in Monroe.They were longtime North-side residents.Jim and his father started Taff and Taff Builders in 1948 which built many custom homes and commercial businesses on Madison’s North-side and selling real estate in the Madison area.He has managed the family farm in Rio since 1950, where he and Laura have lived for over 40 years.

Many people have enjoyed “Taffland”, “Duck Away” and fishing at “Taff’s Pond” over the years.Jim loved hunting, fishing, gardening, farming and most of all his Weimaraners.He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pardeeville, Madison Rotary Club, Boy Scout Leader of Troop 26 at Sherman School in 1976, American Legion Post #208 in Rio, and the Rio Community Club.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laura; two sons, Larry (Karen) Taff and Denny Taff; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Jesse Taff; and sister, Ruth (Dell) Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A brief memorial service will be held with Full Military Honors at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., with Rev. Norman Bude officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beaver Dam Community Hospital, Home Health United, Dr. Hei, also the staffs at Meriter Hospital and Agrace HospiceCare.
