Victor Ward Comstock

Verona-Victor W. Comstock, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at his home. He was born on November 20, 1931, in Evanston, IL, the son of Virgil and Georgia (Tuttle) Comstock. He and the love of his life Bobbie were married for 55 years. And during those years, Vic and Bobbie almost never missed sharing lunch in Bobbie’s kitchen. Vic was employed in the family business, Comstock Tire, for over 60 years up until the good lord needed some tires. Vic was a devoted father to six children and was always on call when needed. He was an avid Badger, Packer, and Brewer fan. You could always tell which team was playing by his attire. He seemed most content spending time with family on or near the water. His gregarious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Vic is survived by his wife Bobbie; 6 children, Kris (Scott) Morledge, Kelly Comstock, Mike Comstock, Colleen (Brian) Wilkins, Brek Comstock, and Jeff (Jennie) Comstock; 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Bailey, John, and Kendall Morledge, Brycen Bobbie Wilkins, Maggie, Georgia, and Freddy James Comstock; 2 siblings, Sarah Jane (Atlee) Wilson, and Tim Comstock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Georgia Comstock.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, April 23, 2012, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona. A private family service will be held at a later date.

THE SHIP

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle. Someone at my side shouts, “there, she is gone!” Gone where? Gone from my sight-that is all. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. For there are other eyes watching her coming, as other voices ready to take up the glad shout. “Here she comes!” “Here she comes!” And that is dying.

Smooth sailing Dad, we will miss our captain. We love you!
